Freedom is a small, unincorporated community. This means it is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own city government. It is located in the larger Town of Freedom in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States.
You can find Freedom along Wisconsin Highway 55. It's about 7.5 miles (12.1 km) north of a bigger town called Kaukauna. Even though Freedom is small, it has a post office. This post office is actually located in Kaukauna and uses the ZIP code 54131.
The History of Freedom
Before the area became known as the Town of Freedom, it had a different name. Records suggest that this community was once called Sagole or Sagola. This word comes from a Native American language and means "good morning."
However, after the surrounding area was officially named the Town of Freedom on June 5, 1853, the old name slowly faded away. People in the community then started using the name Freedom too.
Freedom High School
Freedom is also home to a very successful high school. It's called Freedom High School. The school is well-known for its sports teams and has won many state championships. This shows that the students and teams work very hard!
