French Settlement is a small village in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. It was once known as La Côte-Française. In 2020, about 1,073 people lived there. French Settlement is part of the larger Baton Rouge area.

A Look Back: French Settlement's History
French Settlement began around 1800. People from France, Germany, and Italy came here by traveling along the Amite River.
This area became a busy place for business. People worked in cypress sawmills, caught animals for their fur, made roof shingles, and ran farms. There was even a port where steamboats could stop.
French Settlement is home to four special houses. These houses are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are important historical buildings that are protected. The houses are the Decareaux House, Deslattes House, Guitreau House, and Lobell House.
