Frickson Rafael Erazo Vivero (born on May 5, 1988) is a former professional football player from Ecuador. He was known for playing as a centre back. Frickson Erazo also played for the Ecuador national team.
Club Career Highlights
Frickson Erazo played for several football clubs during his career. He started his journey in Ecuador before moving to Brazil.
Early Career in Ecuador
Erazo began his professional career at a club called El Nacional. He played there for six seasons. In January 2012, he joined Barcelona SC.
Playing for Barcelona SC
Erazo made his first appearance for Barcelona SC on February 2, 2012. His team won that game 3–1 against Deportivo Cuenca. He scored his first goal for the club on April 29, 2012. This goal came in a 2–2 draw against LDU Quito.
That same season, Erazo helped Barcelona SC win the Ecuadorian Serie A championship. This was a big achievement for the club, as it was their first league title since 1997. It was also the first major trophy in Erazo's career.
Moving to Brazil
In January 2014, Erazo moved to Brazil to play for Flamengo. He played his first game for them on February 2, 2014. Flamengo won that match 5-2. Erazo helped Flamengo win the Campeonato Carioca, which is the state championship for Rio de Janeiro.
Loan to Grêmio
On January 17, 2015, Erazo joined Grêmio on a loan for a year. He later left Grêmio in December 2015 due to financial reasons.
Joining Atlético Mineiro
On January 2, 2016, Erazo signed with Atlético Mineiro. He played for this club until 2018.
Return to Barcelona SC
In mid-2018, Erazo went back to Barcelona SC. However, there were some issues with his previous club, Atlético Mineiro, which owned his playing rights. Because of this, he could not play for Barcelona SC right away. His agent announced in February 2019 that he would be registered to play for the 2019 season. However, he was still unable to play many months later.
Retirement from Football
After playing for 9 de Octubre, Frickson Erazo announced that he was retiring from football. This was on February 13, 2021.
International Career
Frickson Erazo also played for his country, the Ecuador national football team.
First Appearances and Goals
He played his first game for Ecuador on April 20, 2011. This was a friendly match against Argentina. Erazo scored his first goal for Ecuador on June 7, 2011. It was in a 1–1 draw against Greece in New York City.
Major Tournaments
Erazo was chosen to be part of Ecuador's team for the 2011 Copa América tournament in Argentina. He played in all three group games. However, Ecuador did not win any matches and was eliminated early.
He played in 45 international games for Ecuador. He was also part of Ecuador's 23-player squad for the 2014 World Cup.
