How It Started
The Frog and the Peach opened its doors in 1983. It was started by a married couple, Betsy Alger and Jim Black. The unique name comes from a funny comedy show by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.
What People Think
Many people love The Frog and the Peach! In 2005 and 2006, AOL's City Guide called it the "Best All-Around Restaurant in North Jersey." Zagat, a popular guide, even said it was the fourth most popular restaurant in all of New Jersey. In January 2007, The Star-Ledger newspaper gave the restaurant its highest rating of four stars.
Meet the Chef and Owner
Bruce Lefebvre is the current owner and head chef of The Frog and the Peach. He bought the restaurant in May 2012. Before that, he had been the main chef there since 2001.
Bruce was born in 1969 in Edison, New Jersey. He grew up in Sea Girt, New Jersey. After finishing college at Wake Forest University, he went to cooking school at The Culinary Institute of America.
After culinary school, Bruce worked at a few famous restaurants. These included Aureole and Lespinasse. He also worked at Dan’s on Main Street in Metuchen, New Jersey. Bruce returned to The Frog and the Peach in 2000. He first worked as a sous chef, which is like a second-in-command chef.
