Frătăuții Noi (which means 'New Fratautz' in German) is a small town, or commune, in the northeastern part of Romania. It's located in Suceava County, a region called Bukovina. This commune is made up of two villages: Costișa and Frătăuții Noi itself.

A Look Back in Time

Long ago, Frătăuții Noi was home to many German people. These were special groups called Bukovina Germans. They lived here for a long time, from the late 1700s until the middle of the 1900s.

This was during a time when powerful empires ruled the land. First, it was the Habsburg Empire, and later the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Many German families moved to this area during those periods.
