Fulham East was a special area in London that elected one person to represent it in the House of Commons. The House of Commons is where laws are made for the whole United Kingdom. This area was part of the Metropolitan Borough of Fulham.
The Fulham East area had its own representative in the UK Parliament from 1918 until 1955. People voted for their representative using a system called "first-past-the-post." This means the candidate with the most votes wins.
Before 1918, the area was just called Fulham. For the 1918 election, Fulham was split into two parts: Fulham East and Fulham West. These two parts joined back together for the 1955 election. Later, in 1997, the Fulham area became part of a new constituency called Hammersmith and Fulham.
Understanding the Area: Fulham East's Boundaries
The Fulham East constituency included specific parts of the Metropolitan Borough of Fulham. These parts were known as wards. The wards that made up Fulham East were Barons Court, Lillie, Sands End, and Walham. These boundaries helped define which citizens could vote for the Fulham East representative.
