Exploring Fulks Run

The North Fork Shenandoah River flows right past Fulks Run. This river is a great spot for outdoor activities. The community is home to Fulks Run Elementary School, where local kids go to learn. There's also the Fulks Run Ruritan Park, a popular place for people to gather. It even has a baseball field for games and fun!

A Dam That Was Never Built

Long ago, in the 1940s and 1960s, there was a plan to build a huge dam called the Brocks Gap Dam. If it had been built, the entire area of Fulks Run would have been covered by a large lake, called a reservoir. This would have meant that homes and land would be underwater.

However, the people living in Fulks Run and nearby areas strongly disagreed with the plan. They worked together and showed their opposition. Because of their determined efforts, the dam project was stopped. This means Fulks Run was saved and remains a community today!
