Fulvio Collovati, born on May 9, 1957, is a famous Italian former professional footballer. He played as a defender, usually a centre-back. He was known for being a strong and smart player.

Collovati also played for the Italian national team. He helped Italy win the 1982 FIFA World Cup, which is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. Many people thought he was one of Italy's best defenders in the 1970s and 1980s.

Playing for Football Clubs

Fulvio Collovati started his football journey in Teor, a town in Italy. He joined the youth team of A.C. Milan, a very well-known club.

Early Career at AC Milan

Collovati made his first appearance for A.C. Milan in the top Italian league, Serie A, during the 1976–77 season. In that year, he played 11 games and helped his team win the Coppa Italia, which is a major cup competition in Italy.

He played more often in the next season. By the 1978–79 season, he was a regular player. He played 27 games and helped A.C. Milan win the scudetto, which is the Serie A league title.

After the 1979–80 season, A.C. Milan faced a tough time. They were moved down to Serie B, a lower league, because of a football scandal involving betting. But Collovati decided to stay with the team.

He played 36 games in 1980–81 Serie B and scored two goals. His loyalty helped A.C. Milan win the Serie B title that season. This win allowed them to return to Serie A.

Back in Serie A, Collovati became the team's captain. Milan won the Mitropa Cup, another European club competition. However, the team was moved down to Serie B again because of their performance on the field.

Moving to Other Clubs

After A.C. Milan was relegated again, Collovati decided to join their local rivals, Inter Milan. He started playing for Inter in the 1982–83 season, playing 28 games. He was a key defender for Inter Milan during his time there.

In September 1986, Collovati moved to Udinese Calcio to be closer to his hometown. He played 20 games and scored 2 goals for Udinese in one season.

He finished his playing career after spending two years at A.S. Roma (from 1987 to 1989) and four years at Genoa C.F.C. (from 1989 to 1993). All these clubs played in Serie A.

Playing for Italy
