José Fernando Fumagalli (born on October 5, 1977, in Monte Alto, São Paulo) is a Brazilian former footballer. He was known simply as Fumagalli during his playing days. He played as an attacking midfielder, which means he helped create scoring chances for his team.

Fumagalli started his football journey in the youth teams of Santos. He spent a big part of his professional career playing for Guarani.

Fumagalli had a long and interesting career playing for many different football clubs. He started out in youth teams before becoming a professional player.

Early Career and Loans

Fumagalli began his youth career at Ferroviária in 1995. He then moved to the famous Santos youth team in 1997. He played for Santos's main team from 1997 to 2000.

  • In 1998, he was loaned to Verdy Kawasaki in Japan.
  • The next year, in 1999, he played on loan for América-SP.

Time with Guarani and Other Brazilian Clubs

Fumagalli joined Guarani in 2000. He played there until 2001, scoring many goals as an attacking midfielder. He later returned to Guarani for a much longer period from 2012 to 2018. This shows how important he was to the club.

International Experience and Return to Brazil

In 2004, Fumagalli had a short time playing for FC Seoul in South Korea. This gave him experience playing football in another country.

He then returned to Brazil and played for Sport Recife from 2006 to 2010. During this time, he also had a loan spell with Al-Rayyan in Qatar from 2007 to 2008.

Later, he was loaned to Vasco da Gama from 2009 to 2010. After that, he played for Americana in 2011.

Final Years and Retirement

Fumagalli's career came full circle when he returned to Guarani in 2012. He played there for many years, until 2018. He even had a short loan to Santa Cruz-PA in 2013. He retired from professional football after his second long period with Guarani.
