History of Funk
Funk was officially set up in 1887. This happened when the railroad was being built through the area. The village was named after Phillip C. Funk, who was one of the first people to settle there. Funk became an official village in 1913.

- John Robert Brown was born in Funk. He was a very important judge. He was one of the "Fifth Circuit Four" judges. These judges played a key role in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. They helped make sure everyone had equal rights, no matter their background.
