The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) is an important group. It creates rules and guidelines for countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council. These countries include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Yemen is also part of the GSO.
The GSO was started by the Gulf Cooperation Council. Its full name is "The Standardization Organization of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf". The main office is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There is also another office in Jeddah.
If the GSO does not have a rule for something, it looks at rules from around the world. Then, it might decide to use those rules. The GSO also helped create a group called "GULFME" for measuring things accurately. The GSO has worked with companies like PepsiCo too.
As of 2021, the secretary-general of the GSO is H.E. Nabil A Molla. In 2010, the GSO had made about 2,700 rules. Each member country of the GCC is responsible for using these rules.
