Gadwall was once a small community, or "settlement," located in Merced County, California. Today, it is considered a "former settlement" because it no longer exists as an active town or populated place.
Where Was Gadwall Located?
Gadwall was situated about 5.5 miles (which is about 8.8 kilometers) to the east-southeast of a larger town called Los Banos. It was built along the Southern Pacific Railroad line. This railroad was very important back then for travel and moving goods.

The land where Gadwall was located was quite low, at an elevation of 102 feet (or 31 meters) above sea level. This means it was not on a high mountain or hill.
When Did Gadwall Appear on Maps?
