Gail Honeyman (born in 1972) is a Scottish writer. She is famous for her first book, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. This book won the 2017 Costa First Novel Award.
About Gail Honeyman
Gail Honeyman grew up in Stirling, Scotland. Her mother worked for the government, and her father was a scientist. As a child, Gail loved reading a lot. She visited the library many times each week.
She studied French language and literature at the University of Glasgow. Later, she went to the University of Oxford for more studies in French poetry. But she decided not to become a professor. Instead, she took on different office jobs. She worked for the government first. Then, she became an administrator at the University of Glasgow.
While working, Gail took a writing course called Faber Academy. She sent the first few chapters of her book to a writing contest. This book later became Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. The book was published in 2017. It quickly won many awards and was praised by critics.

Gail Honeyman's book, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, won the Costa First Novel Award in 2017. After that, many newspapers and book stores interviewed her. She told The Daily Telegraph that the main character, Eleanor, is not her. But Gail also said that everyone feels lonely sometimes.
In 2018, Gail shared that she was writing a new book. She said it would be set in a different time and place. A new book by her is expected to be published in the future.
