History of Galloway
Galloway was started not long after the American Civil War ended. In the early 1880s, a school opened in the community. By 1897, this school had 30 students learning there.
During the 1930s, a time known as the Great Depression, Galloway had grown a bit more. It had a church, a general store where people could buy supplies, and many houses.
After World War II, the school district in Galloway joined with the school district in Carthage. However, in the 1960s, Galloway still had enough people to support its church, a community center for gatherings, and a few small businesses. Today, the community is spread out.
