Garden City is a city located in Ada County, Idaho. In 2020, about 12,316 people lived there. Garden City is almost completely surrounded by the larger city of Boise. However, it has its own separate local government.
Garden City got its name from the many gardens grown by Chinese immigrants who lived in the area a long time ago. The city's main street is called Chinden Boulevard. This name is a mix of the words "China" and "garden." In recent years, Garden City has become a popular spot for artists to set up their studios.
Garden City is part of the larger Boise metropolitan area. This means it's connected to Boise and other nearby towns.
