History of Garfield Township

Early Post Offices

Garfield Township has a history that includes its own post offices. The Crump post office first opened its doors on August 30, 1898. Before that, a post office named Garfield opened on May 13, 1897. This Garfield post office was located at 8 Mile Road and Newberg Road.

The Garfield post office stopped operating on April 30, 1909. Later, the Crump post office also closed on March 31, 1954.
