Gareth Ian Ablett (born 19 November 1965 – died 1 January 2012) was an English football player and coach. He played as a defender. A defender is a player whose main job is to stop the other team from scoring goals. His career as a professional player lasted from 1985 until 2001.

Gary Ablett was born in Aigburth, a part of Liverpool. He played for Liverpool Football Club from 1985 to 1992. With Liverpool, he helped the team win two top league titles and an FA Cup. In 1992, Ablett moved from Liverpool to their city rivals, Everton. In 1995, he won the FA Cup again, this time with Everton. This made him the only player ever to win the FA Cup with both Liverpool and Everton. After his playing days, Gary Ablett became a youth team coach for both Liverpool and Everton. From 2009 to 2010, he was the manager of Stockport County.
