Gary Francis Green, born on October 2, 1955, is a former American football player. He was a talented cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. A cornerback is a defensive player whose main job is to stop the other team's passes. Gary played college football for the Baylor Bears before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was known for his amazing ability to intercept passes.

Gary Green grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He went to Sam Houston High School. Even in high school, he showed great talent in football.
Playing for the Baylor Bears
After high school, Gary went to Baylor University to play college football for the Baylor Bears. He was an outstanding player there. In 1976, he was recognized as a Consensus All-American. This means he was considered one of the best college football players in the entire country that year. He was also a first-team All-SWC player in 1976.
Becoming an NFL Star
Gary Green's skills caught the attention of professional teams. In the 1977 NFL draft, he was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was the 10th player picked overall in the first round, which is a very high honor!
Playing for the Kansas City Chiefs
Gary played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1977 to 1983. As a cornerback, his job was to cover the opposing team's wide receivers and prevent them from catching passes.
