Gary James Kosins was born on January 21, 1949. He is a former American football player. He played as a running back for three seasons. His team was the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL). Before that, he played college football for the Dayton Flyers. The Miami Dolphins chose him in the 1972 NFL draft.

Gary Kosins' Early Life and College Football
Gary James Kosins was born in Warsaw, Indiana. This happened on January 21, 1949. He went to Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School. This school is in Dayton, Ohio.
In 1967, during his senior year, he was named a first-team all-state player. This was for Class AA football. He finished high school in 1968.
Playing for the Dayton Flyers
Gary played football for the Dayton Flyers for four years. He was a key player from 1968 to 1971. In 1969, he ran with the ball 198 times. He gained 783 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He also caught nine passes for 74 yards and one touchdown.
In 1970, he carried the ball 344 times. He gained 1,172 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 58 yards. His 344 rushing attempts were the most in the entire country that season.
During his senior year in 1971, Kosins rushed 237 times. He gained 857 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 63 yards and one touchdown. After his senior season, he played in two special games. These were the Blue–Gray Football Classic and the Senior Bowl. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Blue–Gray game.
Gary Kosins' Professional Football Career
The Miami Dolphins picked Gary Kosins in the 1972 NFL draft. He was the 77th player chosen overall. This happened in the third round. However, the Dolphins decided to let him go on September 12, 1972.
Playing for the Chicago Bears
The very next day, September 13, 1972, the Chicago Bears picked him up. He played in all 14 games for the Bears in 1972. He ran the ball three times for five yards. He also caught two passes for 15 yards and scored one touchdown.
In 1973, Gary played in 12 games and started two of them. He carried the ball 24 times for 65 yards. He also caught four passes for eight yards.
He played in all 14 games again in 1974. That season, he had eight rushing attempts for 30 yards and scored one touchdown. He also caught one pass for three yards. The Bears released him from the team on August 5, 1975.
