Gary Middleton (born 20 June 1990) is a politician from Northern Ireland. He is a member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). He has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the area of Foyle since 2015.
Middleton also served as a Junior Minister for the Executive Office. He held this role from February to March 2021 as an acting minister. He then became the permanent Junior Minister in June 2021, serving until May 2022.

Early Life and Education
Gary Middleton was born in Newbuildings, which is in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He went to the University of Ulster. There, he studied Computer Science. He also earned a special diploma in Civic Leadership and Community Planning from the same university.
Before becoming an MLA, Gary worked with young people as a youth worker. He also helped other politicians. He was an assistant to William Hay and later Maurice Devenney, who were both MLAs for Foyle.
Political Career and Elections
Gary Middleton started his political journey at a young age. He was first chosen to be part of the Derry City Council in 2011. He was only 20 years old at the time. He took the place of William Hay on the council.
Serving as Deputy Mayor
From June 2013 to March 2015, Gary Middleton held an important role. He served as the Deputy Mayor of Derry City Council. This meant he helped lead the council and represent the city.
Joining the New Council
In 2014, a new council was formed. It was called the Derry and Strabane District Council. Gary was elected to this new "super council." He was chosen to be the leader of the DUP councillors in this new group.
Becoming an MLA
In April 2015, Gary Middleton became a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly. He replaced another DUP member, Maurice Devenney. At 24 years old, Gary was the youngest member of the Assembly at that time.
Running for Parliament
Soon after joining the Assembly, Gary Middleton was chosen to run for the United Kingdom Parliament. He was the DUP candidate for the Foyle area in the 2015 general election. He finished third in that election.
