Gaziza Akhmetkyzy Zhubanova (Kazakh: Ғазиза Ахметқызы Жұбанова, Ǵazıza Ahmetqyzy Jubanova; Russian: Газиза Ахметовна Жубанова with middle name "Akhmetovna"; December 2, 1927 – December 13, 1993) was a very important composer and teacher from Kazakhstan. She created many beautiful pieces of music. She was even given the special title of "People's Artist of the USSR" in 1981, which is a huge honor for artists.

Her Early Life and Education

Gaziza Zhubanova was born on December 2, 1927. Her village was in the Jurun District, which is now part of Aktobe in Kazakhstan. She went to school in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, and was a very good student.

Gaziza grew up in a family that loved music. Her father, Akhmet Zhubanov, was a musician who had studied at a university. This musical home helped Gaziza discover her own talent.

In 1945, Gaziza Zhubanova began her serious music studies. She went to the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow. After finishing there, she continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatoire. There, she learned how to compose music from a famous teacher named Yuri Shaporin. She finished her studies in 1954.

Her Career as a Composer

After graduating, Gaziza Zhubanova continued to study composition. By 1957, she began her career as a professional composer. She quickly became well-known for her unique musical style.

Gaziza was also a leader in the music world. In 1954, she took part in an important meeting of the Kazakh Union of Composers. Later, she became the Chairman of this group. This meant she helped lead and support other musicians in Kazakhstan. She was also a member of the board for the USSR Union of Composers. This showed her importance in the wider Soviet music scene.

She also served as a Deputy for the Alma-Ata City Soviet. This meant she helped make decisions for the city. Gaziza often worked with the Kazakh Song and Dance Company, creating music for their performances.

Her Musical Works

Gaziza Zhubanova's music often tells stories from Kazakh history and old folk tales. She wrote many different kinds of music. This included pieces for piano, violin, and singers. She also composed music for choirs, string quartets, and even popular songs.
