Genevieve Victoria Kitchen (born 5 May 1995) is a British politician. She has been an Assistant Government Whip since July 2024. She is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Wellingborough and Rushden. She first became an MP in February 2024 after a special election. Gen Kitchen is a member of the Labour Party. Before becoming an MP, she was a local councillor in Newham London Borough Council in Greater London from 2018 to 2022.

Early Life and Education
Gen Kitchen was born on 5 May 1995. Her parents both served in the Royal Navy. She grew up in Northamptonshire, England.
She went to several schools in the area. These included Caroline Chisholm School in Northampton. She also attended John Hellins Primary School and Kingsbrook Secondary School.
After school, she studied history and politics. She went to Queen Mary University of London. She finished her studies there in 2016.
Working for Charities
Before becoming a politician, Gen Kitchen worked as a fundraiser. She helped many different charities. These included The Salvation Army and Sarcoma UK. She also worked for a children's hospice and a children's health charity.
From 2018 to 2022, she was a local councillor. She represented the Boleyn area in the London Borough of Newham. During this time, she also helped with local development projects.
Becoming a Member of Parliament

In the 2019 general election, Gen Kitchen ran for Parliament. She stood for the Labour Party in South Northamptonshire. She came in second place in that election.
The Wellingborough By-election
In November 2023, she was chosen to run for Parliament again. This time, it was for the Wellingborough area. A special election, called a by-election, was held there. This happened because the previous MP, Peter Bone, was removed.
Gen Kitchen started her campaign for the by-election. She won the election in February 2024. She received 45.9 percent of the votes. This gave her a majority of 6,436 votes.
Re-election in 2024
In the general election in July 2024, she ran again. The name of her constituency had changed to Wellingborough and Rushden. She was re-elected as the MP for this area.
Personal Life
Gen Kitchen married her husband, Joe, in October 2023. She had to cut short her honeymoon to campaign for the 2024 Wellingborough by-election.
