Genevieve Victoria Kitchen (born on 5 May 1995) is a British politician. She has been an Assistant Government Whip since 2024. This means she helps manage the government's business in Parliament.
Gen Kitchen is also a Member of Parliament (MP). She represents the area of Wellingborough and Rushden. She first became an MP in February 2024. She is a member of the Labour Party. Before becoming an MP, she was a local councillor in Newham London Borough Council from 2018 to 2022.

Early Life and Education
Gen Kitchen was born on 5 May 1995. Her parents both served in the Royal Navy, which is the UK's navy. She grew up in Northamptonshire, a county in England.
She went to several schools there. These included Caroline Chisholm School and John Hellins Primary School. She also attended Kingsbrook Secondary School.
After school, Gen Kitchen studied history and politics. She went to Queen Mary University of London. She finished her studies in 2016.
Working for Charities
Before becoming a politician, Gen Kitchen worked to raise money for charities. Charities are organizations that help people or good causes. She worked with groups like The Salvation Army. She also helped a charity that supports children's health.
Local Government Role
From 2018 to 2022, Gen Kitchen was a councillor. A councillor is someone elected to help run a local area. She represented the Boleyn area in the London Borough of Newham. She also served as a Deputy Cabinet Member for Regeneration. This role involved helping to improve local areas.
Becoming an MP

In 2019, Gen Kitchen first tried to become an MP. She stood for the Labour Party in the South Northamptonshire area. She came in second place in that election.
Winning the By-election
In November 2023, she was chosen to be the Labour candidate for Wellingborough. An MP for that area, Peter Bone, had to leave his job. This meant a special election, called a by-election, was held.
Gen Kitchen started her campaign for this by-election. She even got support from a former local Conservative leader. On 15 February 2024, Gen Kitchen won the by-election. She became the new MP for Wellingborough. She won with 45.9% of the votes.
Re-election in 2024
Later in 2024, a general election was held across the UK. The Wellingborough area was renamed Wellingborough and Rushden. Gen Kitchen was re-elected as the MP for this new constituency.
Personal Life
Gen Kitchen is married to her husband, Joe. They got married in October 2023. She even cut short her honeymoon to campaign for the 2024 Wellingborough by-election.
