George Flaggs Jr. was born on March 20, 1953. He is an American politician who served as the Mayor of Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was the mayor from 2013 until 2025.
Before becoming mayor, Mr. Flaggs was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He represented the 55th district from 1988 to 2013. He also worked as a youth court counselor in Warren County, Mississippi. He was part of the Vicksburg Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Becoming Mayor of Vicksburg
George Flaggs Jr. first became the Mayor of Vicksburg in 2013. He ran as an independent candidate. This means he did not belong to a major political party at that time.
He was re-elected two more times. He won elections again in 2017 and 2021. This showed that many people in Vicksburg supported his leadership.
