George Johnston Allman (born September 28, 1824, died May 9, 1904) was an important Irish mathematician and historian. He was also a professor who studied ancient Greek mathematics. He is best known for his book, Greek Geometry from Thales to Euclid. This book was first published in Dublin in 1889 and was very popular.

George Johnston Allman was born in Dublin, Ireland. His father, William Allman, was a doctor and also studied plants.
George Allman became a professor of mathematics. He taught at Queen's University of Ireland for 40 years. He started teaching there in 1853 and retired in 1893. In 1853, he married Louisa Taylor. He passed away in Dublin on May 9, 1904.
His Important Work
George Johnston Allman was recognized for his contributions to mathematics. He was chosen to be a Fellow of the Royal Society in June 1884. This is a very high honor for scientists.
