George Edward Lowe (born November 10, 1957 – died March 2, 2025) was an American voice actor and comedian. He was best known for being the voice of Space Ghost. This famous character appeared in the animated TV show Space Ghost Coast to Coast and its spin-off, Cartoon Planet. George Lowe also voiced Space Ghost in many other shows. He also had recurring roles in Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Robot Chicken.

Early Life and First Job
George Lowe was born in Dunedin, Florida. He grew up in Brooksville, a nearby town. When he was just 15 years old, George got his first job. It was at a local radio station called WWJB. He finished high school at Hernando High School in 1975. Later, he studied at the Radio Engineering Institute of Sarasota and Pasco–Hernando Community College.
Voice Acting Career
Becoming Space Ghost
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, George Lowe did voice-over work for TBS. He also did some voice-overs for Cartoon Network in the mid-1990s. His career as a voice actor truly began in 1994. This was when Space Ghost Coast to Coast first aired. George Lowe starred as the main character, Space Ghost.
The show Space Ghost Coast to Coast ran for ten years. New episodes aired on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim until 2004. The show was later brought back for two more seasons. These new episodes were shown on GameTap from 2006 to 2008.
George Lowe voiced Space Ghost more than any other character. He played the character more often than any other actor. Besides Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet, he voiced Space Ghost in other shows. These included Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters and The Brak Show. He was also a regular voice actor on The Brak Show, playing the character Dad. You could also hear his Space Ghost voice in Robot Chicken and Perfect Hair Forever. He even voiced the Cartoon Network's phone sales line as Space Ghost.
George Lowe also performed live as Space Ghost. He wore the costume for the premiere of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters. This performance was part of a webcast for Adult Swim. You can find it on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume Five DVD. In 2011, he voiced Space Ghost as the announcer in the game Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion.
Other Voice Roles
George Lowe recorded lines for the movie Radioland Murders. This film was produced by George Lucas. However, his parts were cut from the final movie. He appeared in an episode of Sealab 2021 called "All That Jazz." In this episode, he played Dick, a CEO of a soda company.
Lowe also played himself as a recurring character on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. In this show, he had a different job in almost every episode. He also voiced a character called "Jet Chicken" on the show. You can hear George Lowe's voice in many episodes of Robot Chicken too.
George Lowe was a recurring voice in games by Artix Entertainment. He made special guest appearances in the online games AdventureQuest Worlds and Mech Quest. In these games, he played a park ranger who told scary stories. He was later revealed to be a spirit who ate fear. In Mech Quest, he also voiced GLaDERP, a funny version of GLaDOS from Portal. Lowe did voice-over work for many other companies and media. For example, the radio station KSAN in the San Francisco Bay Area used his voice. He also did voice-overs for Cleveland rock station WNCX. He worked for the Fox, FX, and FXX TV networks. He also did commercials for Dunkin' Donuts and Capital One. George Lowe had a small role in the animated series Beetlejuice. He voiced Super Ego in the episode "Super Zeros".
George Lowe was a guest at events for the game AdventureQuest Worlds. He was also the announcer for the show The B.S. of A. with Brian Sack.
Illness and Passing
In 2023, George Lowe was living in a nursing home in Florida. This was due to some health problems. He later moved out and was cared for by a caregiver.
George Lowe passed away on March 2, 2025. He was 67 years old. His death was caused by a long illness. He had not been active on social media for over a year before he died.
