Georgie Gardner (born 1 June 1970) is a well-known Australian television presenter, journalist, and news anchor. She has worked for many years on major TV networks in Australia, bringing news and information to viewers.
Currently, Georgie is a presenter for Nine News Sydney. She also used to be a co-host and news presenter on the Nine Network's popular breakfast show, Today.

Early Life and Education
Georgie Gardner was born in Perth, Western Australia. Her parents were Preston and Ruth. She has two siblings, Katie and John. When Georgie was five, her parents divorced and later remarried. She also has half-siblings from her parents' later marriages.
Georgie went to Dalkeith Primary School and St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls in Perth. When she was 17, she traveled to Milan, Italy, to work as a nanny. After returning to Perth, she studied journalism at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Georgie Gardner has had a long and successful career in Australian media. She has worked in both radio and television.
Starting in Radio
After finishing her studies in 1992, Georgie began her career in radio. She got a cadetship at Radio 2NX (now hit106.9 Newcastle) in Newcastle, New South Wales. In 1994, she moved to Sydney to read the news for 2Day FM.
Moving to Television
In 1996, Georgie joined the Ten Network as a television news reporter. She also filled in as a presenter when needed.
Two years later, in 1998, she moved to the Seven Network. There, she worked as a reporter and presented the late-night news. From 2000 to 2002, she co-hosted Seven News Sunrise with Mark Beretta. She also filled in as a presenter for Seven News and Sky News Australia.
Working at the Nine Network
Georgie Gardner joined the Nine Network in July 2002. She started by presenting the weather on Nine News in Sydney. She also hosted afternoon news updates. In 2004, she became the first presenter for the new 4:30 pm news bulletin, National Nine News Afternoon Edition.
In 2006, Georgie took over as presenter of National Nine News Morning Edition. Later that year, in December 2006, she became the news presenter on Today. She took six months of maternity leave in 2007 and returned to Today in August 2007.
In July 2009, Georgie was appointed the weekend presenter for Nine News Sydney. She replaced Mark Ferguson in this role.
On 26 May 2014, Georgie announced she would be leaving Today. She wanted to spend more time with her family. She continued to work for the Nine Network on Nine News and occasionally reported for 60 Minutes. Her last day on Today was 6 June 2014. Sylvia Jeffreys replaced her on the show.
On 23 November 2017, it was confirmed that Georgie would return to co-host Today. She started her new role on 22 January 2018.
In November 2019, the Nine Network announced that Georgie would no longer co-host Today. She returned to presenting Nine News Sydney on Fridays and Saturdays.
Special Achievements
Georgie Gardner is the only Australian news presenter to have presented the late news bulletin on all three major commercial TV networks. She has filled in for Ten Late News, was a full-time presenter for Seven Late News, and a substitute for Nightline (the late-night version of Nine News).
She has also filled in for Sonia Kruger on Today Extra.
On 3 October 2007, Georgie was unable to continue reading the news due to a personal connection to a sad event involving a former sports star.
