He served as the Secretary of Communications and Transportation in Mexico. This important role meant he was in charge of things like roads, airports, and ports for the country. Early Life and Education
Gerardo Ruiz Esparza was born in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. He went to La Salle University where he earned a degree in law. This means he studied how laws work and how to practice law. He also attended the Autonomous University of Mexico.
After getting his law degree, he continued his studies. He went to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in the United States. There, he earned a master's degree. This higher degree focused on how different laws compare and how public organizations are managed.

Gerardo Ruiz Esparza began his career in politics in 1981. His first roles were in the State of Mexico. He worked as a deputy secretary of state and also as a secretary to the governor. Before these roles, he was the main legal advisor for the State of Mexico's finance department.

Gerardo Ruiz Esparza was married to Rocío Noriega Dosal, who was a teacher. They had two children together, a daughter named Karla and a son named Gerardo. He passed away on April 1, 2020, due to a stroke.
