Gerardo Vera Perales (born March 10, 1947, died September 20, 2020) was a talented Spanish artist. He worked as a costume and set designer, an opera director, an actor, and a director for films and plays.
Life and Career
Gerardo Vera was born in a town called Miraflores de la Sierra in Spain on March 10, 1947. He went to college at the Complutense University of Madrid to study English. He also studied theatre at the University of Exeter in England.
From 2004 to 2011, he was the director of the Centro Dramático Nacional. This is like being in charge of Spain's national theatre.

He won many awards for his work. He received a Goya Award in 1986 for the costumes he designed for the film El amor brujo. This movie was directed by Carlos Saura. He also won a Goya Award for Best Art Direction for the film The Girl of Your Dreams, directed by Fernando Trueba. In 1988, he was given the Spanish National Theater Prize.
Gerardo Vera passed away on September 20, 2020, at the age of 73. He died from COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain.
