Adela was the daughter of Rollo, who was a powerful leader and the first ruler of Normandy. Her mother was Poppa of Bayeux. Adela also had a famous brother named William I Longsword, who became the second ruler of Normandy after their father.

Adela's Marriage and Family

In 935, Adela married William Towhead. He was a very important noble who later became the Count of Poitou and the Duke of Aquitaine. This marriage was a big deal because it connected two powerful families in medieval France.

Her Children

Adela and William Towhead had two children together:

  • William IV of Aquitaine: He followed in his father's footsteps and became the Duke of Aquitaine.
  • Adelaide of Aquitaine: She became very famous because she married Hugh Capet. Hugh Capet was a king who started the Capetian dynasty, a very important royal family in France that ruled for many centuries.

Adela of Normandy lived until October 14, 962. Her life helped connect important noble families and played a part in the history of France.
