Gerome Daren Sapp, born on February 8, 1981, is a former American football player. He played as a safety in the National Football League (NFL). The Baltimore Ravens picked him in the 2003 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish team.
Early Life and High School
Gerome Sapp went to Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. He was a fantastic player there, even named an All-American. The USA Today newspaper listed him as one of the top 100 high school football players in his class. He also played in a special All-Star game between Texas and California high school teams.
College Football Career
Gerome went on to play college football at the University of Notre Dame. During his time with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he made 155 tackles. He also recovered 3 fumbles and made 5 interceptions. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player. He also defended 9 passes and forced 1 fumble.
Professional Football Career
The Baltimore Ravens selected Gerome Sapp in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL draft. After playing for the Ravens, he later joined the Indianapolis Colts. He then returned to play for the Baltimore Ravens again. Throughout his professional career, Gerome Sapp made a total of 111 tackles.
