Gerry played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the San Diego Padres in parts of two seasons, 1983 and 1985. He played in 49 games during his time in the MLB. Gerry threw and batted with his right hand. He was about 6 feet tall and weighed around 185 pounds.

Early Life and College Baseball

Gerry Davis grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. He went to Ewing High School. After high school, he attended Howard University. In 1978, while in college, he played summer baseball. He was part of the Harwich Mariners team in the Cape Cod Baseball League. He played so well that he was chosen as a league all-star.

Starting His Professional Career

The San Diego Padres noticed Gerry's talent. They picked him in the sixth round of the 1980 Major League Baseball draft. This was a big step for him. It meant he was starting his professional baseball career.

Playing in the Big Leagues

Gerry Davis played professional baseball for six seasons. This was from 1980 to 1985, and then again in 1987. He played very well at different levels of minor league baseball. These levels included Class A and Triple-A. He was even named an All-Star in the Carolina League in 1981. He also became an All-Star in the Pacific Coast League in 1983.

Gerry got to play for the San Diego Padres in the MLB. He played in 49 games in total. During his time in the major leagues, he got 22 hits. He also had five doubles and one triple. He brought in three runs for his team. His batting average was .301, which is very good.
