Gholson is a small city in McLennan County, Texas, United States. In 2020, about 1,250 people lived there. It is part of the larger Waco area.
People first settled in this area in the 1840s. It was first called Sardis. Later, it was named Gholson after two early settlers, brothers Benjamin and Samuel Gholson. This name became official for the post office in 1887.

Gholson is about 12 miles northwest of Waco. You can find it where two roads, FMs 933 and 1858, meet.
