Giancarlo Volpe's Journey in Animation
Giancarlo Volpe started his amazing career in animation after finishing art school in 1997. His first jobs were working on fun computer games for kids. He helped bring characters to life in games like Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't so Frightening and Putt-Putt Enters the Race.
Soon after, in 1998, he began working on the TV show King of the Hill. Here, he helped design characters and was an assistant director, learning a lot about how animated shows are made.
Directing Popular Cartoons
In 2005, Giancarlo Volpe became a director for the super popular Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He directed 19 episodes of this show, helping to tell the exciting story of Aang and his friends. He even won a special award called an Annie award for an episode called "The Drill" from the second season!
After Avatar, Giancarlo moved to Lucasfilm Animation in 2008. There, he directed episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Imagine working on a Star Wars show! He even got to work directly with the famous filmmaker George Lucas, who created Star Wars.
Producing and Creating New Worlds
Giancarlo Volpe also helped produce a cool computer-animated TV show called Green Lantern: The Animated Series. This show had a very dedicated group of fans who called themselves "Fanterns."
In 2014, he produced and directed an animated movie called JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time. This movie featured the famous Justice League superheroes and was praised for being fun and perfect for kids.
He also worked with Riot Games, a company known for its popular online game League of Legends. Giancarlo helped create animated videos that expanded the stories and characters of this huge game world.
In 2015, Giancarlo Volpe started his own webcomic called God of Love on Tumblr. This comic is entirely his own creation and tells the story of two elf lovers on the run after an evil demon takes over as the goddess of love.
From 2015 to 2017, Giancarlo was busy directing, writing, and drawing storyboards for the fun Disney Channel animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil. He also helped create and direct the first episode for Mike Tyson Mysteries.
