Giancarlo Volpe is an American animator, director, producer, and comic creator. He was born in Italy. He is well-known for his work on popular animated TV shows and movies. These include Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Giancarlo Volpe's Early Career

Giancarlo Volpe finished art school in 1997. He started his career working on computer games for kids. These games were Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't so Frightening and Putt-Putt Enters the Race.

In 1998, he began working on the TV show King of the Hill. He helped create the characters' looks and was an assistant director.

Directing and Producing Animated Shows

Directing Avatar: The Last Airbender

In 2005, Volpe became a director for the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He directed 19 episodes of this very popular show. He even won an Annie award for an episode called "The Drill". An Annie Award is a big honor in animation.

Working on Star Wars: The Clone Wars

In 2008, Giancarlo Volpe joined Lucasfilm Animation. He became a director for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He worked closely with the famous filmmaker George Lucas, who created Star Wars.

Producing Green Lantern: The Animated Series

Volpe also produced Green Lantern: The Animated Series. This was a computer-animated TV show. It had 26 episodes and a very dedicated fan base. These fans were even called "Fanterns"!

JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time

In 2014, Warner Bros. Animation released a movie called JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time. Volpe produced and directed this film. It was a 52-minute movie that went straight to video. It featured the Justice League superheroes. People really liked it because it was fun and good for kids.

Animated Content for League of Legends

Later in 2014, Volpe worked with Riot Games. He helped create animated content for the game League of Legends. This is a very popular online game where players battle each other. The animations helped tell more stories about the game's world and characters.

Creating Webcomics

On February 14, 2015, Volpe started his own webcomic called God of Love. He shared it on Tumblr. A webcomic is a comic book published online. This comic was completely his own idea. It tells the story of two elf lovers who are on the run. This happens after an evil demon takes the place of the goddess of love.

Directing Star vs. the Forces of Evil

From 2015 to 2017, Volpe worked on the Disney Channel show Star vs. the Forces of Evil. He directed, wrote, and created storyboards for this animated series. Storyboards are like comic strips that plan out how a scene will look.

Developing Mike Tyson Mysteries

Volpe also helped create and direct the first episode, or pilot, for Mike Tyson Mysteries.
