Gilman is a small city in the southeastern part of Marshall County, Iowa, United States. In 2020, the city had a population of 542 people. It is a quiet community known for its unique annual festival.

History of Gilman

Gilman began in 1870. This was after the Central Railroad of Iowa built tracks through the area. The town got its name from Charles Gilman, who was a railroad contractor. Gilman officially became a city in 1876.

Each year, Gilman celebrates "No-Rivers Day." This special event is part of the Gilman No-Rivers Festival. The Gilman Events committee organizes this fun annual festival.
