History of Gilman
Gilman began in 1870. This was after the Central Railroad of Iowa built tracks through the area. The town got its name from Charles Gilman, who was a railroad contractor. Gilman officially became a city in 1876.
Each year, Gilman celebrates "No-Rivers Day." This special event is part of the Gilman No-Rivers Festival. The Gilman Events committee organizes this fun annual festival.
