Ginella Massa was born on January 29, 1987. She is a Canadian television journalist.
Ginella is an Afro-Latina Muslim reporter and news anchor. In 2015, she made history by becoming Canada's first television reporter to wear a hijab. A hijab is a head covering worn by some Muslim women. She then became the first news anchor in Canada to wear a hijab. This happened on November 17, 2016, when she anchored the 11 p.m. newscast for CityNews in Toronto, Ontario.

Ginella Massa is a very talented journalist. She studied at York University and Seneca College. Since 2010, she has worked in many roles in Canadian news. She has worked both behind the scenes and on camera.

Hosting Canada Tonight
In 2020, a big step happened in Ginella's career. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) announced she would join them. She became the host of a prime-time show called Canada Tonight. This show aired on CBC News Network. She also worked as a special correspondent for The National.
Canada Tonight first aired on January 11, 2021. In October 2022, Ginella took time off. She went on maternity leave to care for her new baby daughter. During this time, Dwight Drummond hosted Canada Tonight.
In July 2023, Ginella announced she was leaving CBC News. She decided to take a part-time teaching job. She now teaches at Toronto Metropolitan University. Travis Dhanraj became the new permanent host of Canada Tonight in January 2024.
