Sonia Mercedes Gisela Valcárcel Álvarez (born January 26, 1963) is a famous Peruvian television host, actress, and businesswoman. She is often called "La Señito" by her fans. Gisela is well-known for her popular TV shows in Peru.

She also owns and runs beauty salons and spas called Amarige Beauty Salons & Spas in Lima. Besides that, she directs women's magazines like Gisela and Amarige. Gisela also has her own TV production company, GV Productions. This company creates popular shows like El Show de los sueños (Peru), América Hoy, and El Gran Show.

Early Life and Beginnings

Gisela Valcárcel was born on January 26, 1963. Her parents are Jorge Valcárcel and Teresa Álvarez. She went to school at Institución Educativa Teresa González de Fanning.

When she was young, Gisela became a mother to her daughter, Ethel Pozo. After Ethel was born, Gisela started working hard to build her career. She began as a secretary at a car company. She also worked as an extra in theater plays.

Gisela's Television Career

Gisela's career took off when she was working as a receptionist at Panamericana Televisión. She famously kissed Venezuelan singer Oscar de León live on TV. This moment made her instantly famous. She then became a comic actress and a dancer in shows like Risas y Salsa and La gran Revista.

"Aló Gisela" and Daytime Fame

In 1987, Panamericana Televisión offered Gisela her own show. It was a Peruvian version of Hello Susana and was named "Aló Gisela". This show made her the "queen of daytime television" in Peru for many years. Her show was very popular because she talked to the audience. She would answer phone calls and give advice, especially to housewives.

Many famous Latin American stars appeared on "Aló Gisela". These included Chayanne, Julio Iglesias, Luis Miguel, Shakira, and Ricky Martin. While hosting, she also started her beauty business, "Amarige Salon & Urban Spa".

Nighttime Shows and New Projects

Later, Gisela also hosted popular Saturday night TV shows. In the early 2000s, she hosted a local version of Big Brother called La Casa de Gisela.

In 2008, Gisela started a Peruvian version of Bailando por un sueño. This show was a dance competition. She also hosted Los Reyes de la Pista (Perú) that same year. In 2009, she launched El Show de los Sueños. In 2010, she hosted El Gran Show, another popular dance show.

In 2012, Gisela hosted Operación Triunfo, a singing competition. However, she soon returned to her popular dance reality show, El Gran Show. Her company, Espíritu y GV Producciones, also produced the mini-series Llauca, which came out in 2021.

Gisela's Personal Life

On June 10, 1995, Gisela married soccer player Roberto Martínez Vera-Tudela. They later divorced.

In 2006, she married Peruvian architect Javier Carmona after six years together. However, they separated shortly after their marriage.

Gisela has one daughter, Ethel Pozo, from her relationship with Jorge Pozo.
