Giza Governorate is a special area, like a state or province, in Egypt. Its main city, or capital, is Giza.
About Giza Governorate
Location and Size
Giza Governorate is located on the west side of the famous Nile River, right across from Egypt's capital city, Cairo. This area includes a part of the Nile Valley near Giza.
In 2011, Giza Governorate grew bigger. It joined with another area called the 6th of October Governorate. This added a large part of Egypt's Western Desert, including the beautiful Bahariya Oasis, to Giza.
Famous Landmarks
Giza is super famous for its ancient wonders! The Great Pyramid of Giza is here, and it's one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. People from all over the globe visit every year to see this amazing structure. It's part of the Giza pyramid complex, which also includes the mysterious Great Sphinx.
