Glen Murphy MBE (born on April 6, 1957) is a British actor and producer. He is most famous for playing Firefighter George Green in the popular TV show London's Burning from 1988 to 2002.

Glen Murphy's Acting Career

Glen Murphy was the only actor who stayed on London's Burning for its entire run. This show was very popular, with millions of viewers watching it. In 1992, he was featured on This Is Your Life, a TV show that celebrates famous people.

After London's Burning, Glen appeared in other TV shows like The Bill. He also acted in films such as Tank Malling and Shoreditch.

Producing and Acting in Films

Later, Glen Murphy became a producer and lead actor for the film " Lords of London ". This movie won the "Best Film" award at the New York Hell's Kitchen Film Festival. Glen also won the "Best Actor" award at the Abruzzo Film Festival in Italy for his role in the film. "Lords of London" was released in the United States by Lionsgate in 2015.

Stage Performances

Glen Murphy has also performed in plays. He had a main role in the Royal National Theatre production of Dealer's Choice in London in 1995. Glen Murphy has a 3rd Dan black belt in karate, which is a type of martial arts. He has been training in martial arts for over 40 years. His brother, Darren Murphy, was a guitarist in a punk band called Wasted Youth.

Starting His Acting Journey

Glen's acting career began in a play called Johnny Boxer at the Half Moon Theatre in East London. He then performed in Guilty Generation, which was staged at his father Terence Murphy's pub, The Bridge House in Canning Town. After that, he joined the Theatre Venture company at the Theatre Royal Stratford East for a year.

Awards and Recognition

In 1995, Glen Murphy was given the Freedom of the City of London. This is a special honor given to people who have made important contributions to the city. He was also awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2007. He received this award for all the great charity work he has done.
