Glenda Green's Life
Glenda Green was born in 1945 in Weatherford, Texas. In 1972, she moved to Norman, Oklahoma. Today, she lives in Fort Worth, Texas.
Her Education and Early Career
Glenda studied painting at Texas Christian University (TCU). While there, she won first place in a national painting contest. She graduated with high honors in 1967.
She then earned a master's degree in art history from Tulane University in 1970. Her studies focused on French Gothic sculpture. During this time, she also taught art history. She worked as a research assistant at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.
Her Career as an Artist
Glenda's painting career truly began in 1970. She became known as a leading portrait painter. From 1972 to 1976, she taught art history at the University of Oklahoma. She also served as a guest artist there.
Art Shows and Exhibitions
Glenda's artwork has been shown in many places across the United States. These include the Museum of the Southwest in Texas (1975). Her art was also displayed at the Museum of Art, University of Oklahoma (1975). Other places include the Oklahoma Museum of Art (1976) and the Philbrook Art Center (1978).
Her work has also been shown at famous places like the Smithsonian Institution. It was also seen at the Museum of the City of New York. In 1998, she had a show at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art. Many of her works are now owned by major museums worldwide. These include the Louvre, the British Museum, and the Hermitage.
Spiritual Journey
In 1992, Glenda painted a picture of Christ called The Lamb and The Lion. This painting inspired her to start spiritual writing. She has said that before this painting, she had not thought about art having a special spiritual purpose. Now, Glenda is also a public speaker on spirituality.
