History of Glendale
Early Settlement
Glendale was first settled in 1855. The community got its name from the beautiful valley where it is located.
In 1979, Glendale officially became an unincorporated town. At that time, most of the land belonged to a person named Charlie Hester. He ran a motel, a gas station, and a restaurant there.
Population Changes
The town's population reached its highest point with 36 people. This group mainly included Charlie Hester's family and his employees.
In 1996, local officials known as county commissioners approved a plan. This plan was to build a large resort in Glendale with 600 hotel rooms. However, this project was never built.
Becoming Part of Moapa Valley
By 2001, Glendale's population had become very small, with only four residents. Because there weren't enough people, it was impossible to have the five members needed for the town board. So, the town was officially dissolved.
After this, Glendale became part of the nearby unincorporated town of Moapa Valley. Later, in 2009, the community boundaries were changed again. This made Glendale part of Moapa.
