William Glenn Shadix (born April 15, 1952 – died September 7, 2010) was an American actor and comedian. He was famous for playing Otho in the movie Beetlejuice. He also lent his voice to the Mayor of Halloween Town in The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Early Life and Acting Beginnings
Glenn Shadix was born in Bessemer, Alabama, on April 15, 1952. He was the oldest child in his family. For a few years, his last name was changed to "Scott" after his mother remarried. However, he always used his original name, Shadix, when he worked as an actor. He studied at Birmingham–Southern College for two years.
Before becoming a movie star, Glenn lived in Manhattan, New York City. He then moved to Hollywood in 1977.
A Career in Movies and TV
Glenn Shadix got his big break in the movie Beetlejuice. He played Otho, a quirky interior decorator. At the time, he was also part of a comedy group called The Groundlings.
The director of Beetlejuice, Tim Burton, liked Glenn's work. He cast Glenn in two more of his films: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Planet of the Apes (2001). In The Nightmare Before Christmas, Glenn voiced the Mayor of Halloween Town.
Throughout the 1990s, Glenn also appeared in popular TV shows. These included Cheers, Roseanne, and Seinfeld. In Seinfeld, he played Jerry's landlord.
Voice Acting Roles
Glenn Shadix was also a talented voice actor. He voiced characters in many animated shows. He played the Brain and Monsieur Mallah in the Teen Titans animated series. He also lent his voice to episodes of Jackie Chan Adventures and Justice League Unlimited.
He returned to his role as the Mayor of Halloween Town for video games. He voiced the Mayor in The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge and the popular game Kingdom Hearts II.
Later Years and Passing
After living in Los Angeles for 30 years, Glenn Shadix moved back to his hometown of Bessemer, Alabama, in 2007. He bought a beautiful old Victorian-style house there. Sadly, his dream home was completely destroyed in a fire on December 13, 2008. He told reporters, "I have lost my dream."
In 2009, Glenn had surgery on his ankle, which he had broken while filming a movie. This surgery caused him to have trouble walking, and he often used a wheelchair.
Glenn Shadix passed away on September 7, 2010. According to his sister, he fell in his kitchen at his home in Birmingham, Alabama. He died from an injury to his head.
