Gloria Elizabeth Reuben is a talented Canadian-American actress, producer, and singer. She was born on June 9, 1964. Many people know her for playing Jeanie Boulet on the TV show ER from 1995 to 1999, and again in 2008. For this role, she was nominated for an Emmy Award twice. She also played Elizabeth Keckley in the 2012 movie Lincoln, directed by Steven Spielberg.
Gloria Reuben has also appeared in several other movies. These include Timecop (1994), Nick of Time (1995), Admission (2013), and Reasonable Doubt (2014). On TV, she played Krista Gordon on Mr. Robot from 2015 to 2019. She also had a recurring role on City on a Hill (2019-2021) and played Adina Johnson on Cloak & Dagger (2018-2019).

Early Life and Learning
Gloria Elizabeth Reuben was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her mother, Pearl Avis (Mills), was a classical singer. Her father, Cyril George Reuben, was a civil engineer. Both of her parents were born in Jamaica. Her father passed away when she was young.
Gloria was one of six children in her family. Her older half-brother, Denis Simpson, was an actor and hosted children's TV shows. He passed away in 2010. Her younger brother David passed away in 1988. Gloria wrote a book in 2019 called My Brothers' Keeper. In this book, she shares her feelings and experiences about her brothers' lives and their deaths.
From a young age, Gloria started learning to play the piano. She later studied music, ballet, and jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Acting on Screen
Gloria Reuben started her acting career after working as a model and appearing in TV commercials.
She became very well-known for her role as Jeanie Boulet on the American TV show ER. Jeanie Boulet was a physician assistant at a hospital who was HIV-positive. Gloria was a guest star in the first season and became a main cast member in the second season. She stayed on the show until the sixth season. In 2008, she returned for one episode. Gloria has said that playing this role made her want to help people and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. In 1996, People magazine named her one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.
Gloria also had a main role in the TV series 1-800-Missing (2003–2004), where she played FBI agent Brooke Haslett. Later, she starred as Rosalind Whitman in the TNT series Raising the Bar.
She appeared as a guest star in the TV show Drop Dead Diva and in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2012, she was in the CBS TV movie Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt. That same year, Gloria played Elizabeth Keckley in the historical movie Lincoln. Her acting in this role was highly praised. In 2013, she was a guest star on the sci-fi show Falling Skies.
In 2014, it was announced that Gloria Reuben would join the cast of the USA Network series Mr. Robot. She played Dr. Krista Gordon, a psychiatrist who helps the show's main character, Elliott. The show started in June 2015, and she was in all four seasons.
In 2017, Gloria was cast as Adina Johnson in the series Cloak & Dagger. She played the mother of Tyrone Johnson.
Acting on Stage
In 1999, Gloria acted in an off-Broadway play called The ... Monologues. In 2006, she played Condoleezza Rice in the play Stuff Happens. The next year, she won an award for her excellent performance in that play. In 2008, she acted in another play called Conversations in Tusculum.
Music Career
In 2000, Gloria Reuben sang backup vocals for the famous singer Tina Turner on her Twenty Four Seven Tour.
Gloria is also a jazz singer and pianist who performs regularly. She released her first album, Just for You, in December 2007. Her second album, Perchance to Dream, came out in April 2015. This was her first jazz album. Her most recent album, For All We Know, was released on February 14, 2020. She performs with guitarist and Grammy-winning producer Marty Ashby on this album.
Author
On November 19, 2019, Gloria Reuben released her book, My Brothers' Keeper. In this book, she shares her personal journey and memories of her two brothers. She also writes about her feelings and experiences after their unexpected deaths.

Activism
Gloria Reuben is very dedicated to helping others and making the world a better place. Because she played an HIV-positive character on ER, she continues to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS pandemic. She speaks at many fundraising events and encourages more support for this cause.
She is also very interested in global issues like climate change, protecting nature, and human rights. Gloria Reuben is the president of Waterkeeper Alliance. This organization works to protect everyone's right to clean water. She is also a special adviser on climate change for The Climate Reality Project, which is an environmental organization started by former United States vice president Al Gore. She used to be on the board for the National Wildlife Federation. Gloria Reuben is also part of the Leadership Council for the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights.
