Gloria Elizabeth Reuben, born on June 9, 1964, is a talented actress, producer, and singer from Canada and the United States. Many people know her from the popular TV show ER, where she played Jeanie Boulet. She was even nominated for an Emmy Award twice for this role! She also played Elizabeth Keckley in the famous 2012 movie Lincoln, directed by Steven Spielberg.
She has also appeared in movies like Timecop (1994) and Nick of Time (1995). On TV, she played Krista Gordon in Mr. Robot (2015–2019) and Adina Johnson in Cloak & Dagger (2018–2019).

Early Life and Learning
Gloria Elizabeth Reuben was born on June 9, 1964, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her parents, Pearl Avis (Mills) and Cyril George Reuben, were both from Jamaica. Her mother was a classical singer, and her father was an engineer.
Gloria was one of six children. Her older half-brother, Denis Simpson, was an actor and hosted children's TV shows. He passed away in 2010. Gloria wrote about her brothers and their deaths in her 2019 book, My Brothers' Keeper.
As a child, Gloria started learning to play the piano. Later, she studied music, ballet, and jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Her Career
Gloria Reuben started her career as an actress after working as a model and in TV commercials.
Acting on Screen
Gloria became very well-known for her role as Jeanie Boulet on the American TV show ER. Jeanie was a physician assistant at a hospital who had HIV. Gloria was a guest star in the first season and became a main cast member in the second. She stayed on the show until the sixth season. In 2008, she came back for one episode in the 14th season. Gloria has said that this role made her want to help people with HIV/AIDS. In 1996, People magazine named her one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.
Gloria also had a big role as FBI agent Brooke Haslett in the TV series 1-800-Missing (2003–2004). Later, she played Rosalind Whitman in the TNT series Raising the Bar.
In 2012, Gloria played Elizabeth Keckley in the historical movie Lincoln. Her acting in this film was highly praised. In October 2014, Gloria joined the cast of the USA Network series Mr. Robot. She played Dr. Krista Gordon, a psychiatrist for the main character, Elliott. She was in all four seasons of the show.
In 2017, Gloria was cast as Adina Johnson in the series Cloak & Dagger. Adina is the mother of Tyrone Johnson.
Acting on Stage
In 2006, Gloria played Condoleezza Rice in a play called Stuff Happens at the Public Theater. The next year, she won an award for her amazing performance.
Music Career
In 2000, Gloria sang backup vocals for Tina Turner on her Twenty Four Seven Tour.
Gloria is also a jazz singer and pianist who performs regularly. She released her first album, Just for You, in December 2007. Her second jazz album, Perchance to Dream, came out in April 2015. Her most recent album, For All We Know, was released on February 14, 2020.
Author
On November 19, 2019, Gloria Reuben released a book called My Brothers' Keeper. In this book, she shares her journey and her feelings about her two brothers, especially after they passed away suddenly.

Gloria Reuben lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Helping Others
Gloria is very active in helping others. Because she played an HIV-positive character on ER, she continues to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS pandemic. She speaks at many events to help raise money and support. She also cares a lot about global issues like climate change, nature, and human rights.
Gloria Reuben is the president of Waterkeeper Alliance. This group helps protect clean water for everyone around the world. She is also a special adviser on climate change for The Climate Reality Project, which is an environmental organization started by former United States vice president Al Gore.
