Glynde Place is a beautiful old house in Glynde, East Sussex, England. It was built a long time ago, during the Elizabethan era. It's located in the lovely South Downs National Park. This grand house has been the home of the Viscounts Hampden family for many years. Their ancestors built it way back in 1569. Glynde Place is a very important historical building, known as a Grade I listed building. There's also an old church right next to it, built in the 1700s.
In 1883, the Brand family, who owned Glynde Place, had a huge amount of land. Their estate covered over 22,000 acres across several counties in England, including Sussex, Hertfordshire, and Essex. This shows how important and wealthy the family was at the time.
Between 2008 and 2013, the house got a big makeover. The 7th Viscount Hampden arranged this major renovation. The money for the repairs came from selling one of the estate's valuable paintings.
Today, you can visit Glynde Place and its beautiful gardens. The gardens are also very special, listed as Grade II*. It's a great place to learn about history and enjoy the outdoors.
