Goldson is a small, quiet place in Lane County, Oregon, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city. It doesn't have its own local government.

Goldson is located along Oregon Route 36. It is close to Bear Creek. The community is about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) from a town called Cheshire. The land here is about 404 feet (123 meters) above sea level.

History of Goldson

Goldson got its name from its first postmaster. A postmaster is the person in charge of a post office. The first postmaster was J. M. Goldson.

The Goldson Post Office

The Goldson post office opened in 1891. A post office is where people send and receive mail. It's often a very important part of a community. It helps people stay connected. The Goldson post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1934.

Goldson Today

Even though the post office closed, the name Goldson lives on. As of 1990, there wasn't a main town center left. But a special building called the Goldson Grange is still active.

What is a Grange?

A Grange is like a community center. It's a local branch of a national organization. This organization is called The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry. Granges often help farmers and rural communities. They host meetings, events, and social gatherings. The Goldson Grange is located about 5 miles (8 km) west of where the original community was. It continues to be an important place for people in the area.
