Goll is a small, quiet community located in Marinette County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's part of the larger Town of Wagner.
Where is Goll Located?
Goll is found where County Trunk Highway X meets Old Rail Road. This spot is about 702 feet (214 meters) above sea level. You can reach Goll by road from several nearby places. To the north is Wagner, and to the west is Middle Inlet. If you head east, you'll find Wisconsin Highway 180. There's also a road called Goll Road that runs a bit diagonally to the east of where the old train tracks used to be.
A Look Back: Goll's History
Goll used to be an important stop on a railway line. This line, called the Wisconsin & Michigan (W. & M.) Railway, connected places like Bagley Junction to Iron Mountain. Goll was located between two other stops, Miles and Wagner.
However, the train service through Goll ended in 1938. At that time, the tracks were removed, and the trains were sold off.
Goll also had its own post office for a while. It opened in 1896, and a person named Edward Ashburton Lindsley became the postmaster that same year. He took over from H. S. Brooks. The post office in Goll stayed open for about 17 years before it closed in 1913.
