Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. is a funny American TV show about a kind-hearted but clumsy man named Gomer Pyle. The show ran for five years, from 1964 to 1969. It made 150 episodes in total. This show was a spin-off from another popular TV show called The Andy Griffith Show. Gomer Pyle became so popular on that show that he got his own series! The show was filmed at what is now Paramount Television Studios. It first aired on the CBS television network.
The main actor in Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. is Jim Nabors. He plays Gomer Pyle, who joins the United States Marine Corps as a Private First Class. The show also stars Frank Sutton as Sergeant Carter. Sergeant Carter is Gomer's strict boss. He often gets annoyed by Gomer's silly mistakes and tries to keep him out of trouble.

Gomer Pyle: A Friendly Marine
Gomer Pyle is a simple and honest young man from a small town. He is very polite and always tries to do the right thing. However, Gomer can be a bit naive and sometimes misunderstands orders. This often leads to funny situations. He is known for his catchphrases like "Shazam!" and "Golly!" Gomer's good nature often wins over even the toughest people.
Sergeant Carter: The Strict Leader
Sergeant Vince Carter is Gomer's drill sergeant. He is a tough and serious Marine. Sergeant Carter wants his troops to be disciplined and follow rules exactly. Gomer's innocent mistakes often frustrate Sergeant Carter. Despite his constant yelling, Sergeant Carter secretly cares about Gomer. Their funny arguments are a big part of the show.
How the Show Was Made
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. was filmed in a few different places. Some scenes were shot at Desilu Studios. Other parts were filmed at real Marine Corps locations. These included Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and the U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California. This helped make the show feel more real. The show was produced by Paramount Television Studios for most of its run.
