Goodman Creek's Names
Goodman Creek has an interesting history of names. It is currently named after a government surveyor. This person helped map out the land.
Older Names and Meanings
Before its current name, the creek was known by other names. One of these was Tsa-dis-qualth. This name comes from a native language. It means "narrow mouth overhung with bush." This describes how the creek looked where it met a larger body of water. In the late 1800s, some people also called it the Keh-chen-whilt River.
Where Goodman Creek Flows
Goodman Creek starts high up in the mountains. Its source is an unnamed high point. This point is about 480 meters (or 1,575 feet) above sea level.
Journey to the Ocean
The creek flows for about 15 miles (24 kilometers). It travels through different landscapes. Finally, Goodman Creek reaches the Pacific Ocean. It empties into the ocean at sea level. The area it drains, called its basin, is about 31 square miles (80 square kilometers).
Creeks Joining Goodman
As Goodman Creek flows, other smaller streams join it. These streams are called tributaries. They add more water to the creek.
