Railroad History
The community of Goodwine is located where two railroad lines meet. One of these lines is still active today. It is a Union Pacific route that connects the big cities of Chicago and St. Louis.
The other railroad line used to run east and west. This line belonged to the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad. However, this line is now "defunct," which means it is no longer used.
Local Waterways
A stream called Fountain Creek flows to the west of Goodwine. This creek flows northeast. It eventually joins another stream called Mud Creek. When two streams meet, it is called a "confluence."
