How to Play Goof Troop
In Goof Troop, you play as either Goofy or Max. Your adventure takes you through five different areas on Spoonerville Island. These places include a sunny beach, a village that's being attacked, a spooky haunted castle, a dark cavern, and finally, a pirate ship. This is where Goofy's friends, Pete and PJ, are being held!
Goofy moves a bit slower than Max, but he can hit enemies harder. Max is faster, which helps him get around quickly.
Solving Puzzles and Beating Enemies
The main goal in each level is to solve different puzzles. You need to figure them out to reach the end of the stage. At the end of each stage, you'll face a boss.
Goofy and Max can't directly punch or kick enemies. Instead, they use clever ways to defeat them. You can throw objects like barrels or bombs at bad guys. You can also kick blocks into them, push them off the screen, or trick them into walking into danger.
Helpful Items to Find
As you play, you'll find many items that can help you.
- Fruit: Collecting pieces of fruit protects Goofy or Max from one hit. If you collect enough fruit without getting hit, you earn an extra life!
- Red Diamonds: These give you an extra life right away.
- Blue Diamonds: These give you a "continue," which lets you keep playing if you run out of lives.
In multiplayer mode, if one player loses all their lives, they can come back with three more lives. This happens if the other player moves to a new screen. But if both players lose all their lives on the same screen, the game is over. If you have any continues, you can start again from that same screen. Otherwise, you'll have to use a password to restart from the beginning of the stage.
Tools for Your Adventure
To move forward in the game, you need to collect and use different items. Each player can carry one item at a time. If you're playing alone, you can carry two items.
Some important tools include:
- Grappling Hook: This hook helps you swing across big gaps. You can also use it to push enemies away or grab items from far away.
- Bell: Ringing the bell gets the attention of enemies. This is useful for solving puzzles or setting up an ambush with your teammate.
- Candles: These light up dark areas so you can see where you're going.
- Shovels: Use a shovel to dig up soft dirt and find hidden items.
- Boards: If you find a broken bridge, you can use boards to cover the gaps.
- Keys: Keys unlock certain gates and doors.
Some doors only open when you do something special. This might mean sliding blocks into the right places or defeating all the enemies on the screen.
Boss Fights
At the end of every level, you'll have a boss fight. To defeat the boss, you need to use throwable objects that appear in the room. You'll need to figure out the best way to hit them!
The Story of Goof Troop
One sunny day, Goofy and his son Max decide to go fishing in Spoonerville. While they are out on the sea, they see a huge pirate ship heading towards their town! Even worse, they see that Pete and PJ have been kidnapped by the pirates!
Goofy tries to catch the ship, but it's too fast. He and Max follow it until it lands on a mysterious pirate island.
Meeting the Pirates
When Goofy and Max land on the island, they fight a group of pirates. They soon learn that the pirates have made a big mistake! They think Pete is their captain, Keelhaul Pete. The real Keelhaul Pete was swallowed by a whale a long time ago.
As Goofy and Max explore the island and fight more pirates, Pete and PJ pretend that Pete really is the pirate king. Pete actually enjoys being in charge of the pirates!
Saving Pete and PJ
Eventually, Goofy and Max reach the pirate ship. They see someone who looks just like Pete. Goofy tries to save him, but he accidentally knocks the person out! Max then realizes that this person isn't Pete at all. It's the real Keelhaul Pete! He's back after the whale finally spat him out.
Worried about their friends, Goofy and Max sneak onto the pirate ship. They have another big fight with Keelhaul Pete. After they defeat him, they find Pete and PJ. The pirates are about to feed them to an alligator! Goofy and Max quickly rescue them.
They then tie Keelhaul Pete up and leave him hanging over the alligator instead. Goofy, Max, Pete, and PJ then safely return to their fishing trip, happy to be back home.
