Gooseberry Island (sometimes called Gooseberry Neck) is a small, historic island located off the coast of Westport, Massachusetts. It's part of Bristol County, Massachusetts, in the United States. This island is the southernmost point of Westport.

Who lives on Gooseberry Island?
As of the 2010 census, no one lives permanently on Gooseberry Island. However, the island used to be home to many people, especially during the summer months.
Why is the island uninhabited?
Most of the homes on Gooseberry Island were destroyed in 1954. This happened because of a very powerful storm called Hurricane Carol. After the hurricane, people stopped living there.

Where is Gooseberry Island located?
Gooseberry Island is the most southern part of the town of Westport. It sits off the coast, right between two beaches: Horseneck Beach and East Beach.
How is the island connected to the mainland?
A special road, called a causeway, connects Gooseberry Island to the main part of Westport. This makes it easy to visit! The island is very close to the mainland, only about 0.17 miles (0.27 kilometers) away.
How far is it from other islands?
Gooseberry Island is also about 6.56 miles (10.55 kilometers) northwest of Cuttyhunk Island. Cuttyhunk Island is part of a group of islands known as the Elizabeth Islands.
